Rhoo Hlatshwayo Art Centre is an art facility based in Daveyton at 20074 Hlakwana Street and was named after Aaron Fanyana Hlatshwayo, an actor of note.
It has a multipurpose room used to host art related events, rehearsal room, music room, theatre, boardroom, gallery, workshop areas and offices.
The theatre room can accommodate 350 people at a time. In a day there are approximately 250 youth that use the facility for rehearsals in drama, music, and theatrical plays.
The facility operates Monday to Friday, 08h00 to 16h30, and closed weekends and public holidays, unless booked for a particular event.
“The art centre plays a big role in the community, especially the youth by taking them away from the streets and keeping them busy in the art centre by involving them in a number of activities such as music. We are proud of that,” said facility manager Diseko Mabasa.
Community members can book to use the facility for art related events and it is available at a fee of R12 per hour. There is also an alternative payment for regular users at R60 per month.
